Specialist SEND & SEMH tutoring and coaching
Helping children, young people and adults build confidence, trust and a real love of learning.
Who do I help?
Many of the pupils I work with are bright, capable and full of potential, yet have struggled to thrive in mainstream education.
In many cases, the real barriers are related to SEND needs, anxiety, overwhelm, lack of confidence or feeling misunderstood — not ability.
My work begins by building psychological safety and trust. From there, meaningful progress follows.
Services
Maths and English Tutoring
Maths and English sessions are bespoke, in person and designed to meet the individual needs of children, young people, and adults. I teach Maths and English from KS2 up to GCSE and functional skills level.
Coaching
Coaching is a solution-focused tool designed to set clear goals, identify barriers, and create actionable plans to overcome them. It is useful for anyone feeling "stuck" personally, academically and/or professionally.

The vast majority of young people I work with spend a lot of time online. I find it is healthy to work in person and build a proper connection. As a tutor, I can gauge how much someone is getting from a session, or how comfortable they are, from their body language. For example, some autistic young people I work with will ‘stim’ to help them regulate and this is something I cannot see if we work solely via a screen. There are lots of other examples.
-
Once a strong working relationship has been formed, I can do some online sessions, if needed. For example, some families I work with travel extensively and to maintain consistency we will organise some online sessions.
-
I charge £120 per hour, which includes planning, travel and feedback.

Of course! I talk to everyone on the phone first and we work out whether I’m the right person or not. If I can’t help, then I’m more than happy to point you in the direction of someone who can.

After we’ve chatted on the phone, I’ll come and do an in person visit. In nearly every case, I speak to the parents first. I like to come and meet the young person too so they can decide whether they like me and want to work with me! I’ve done this a long time and there are no hard feelings if the young person doesn’t want to proceed.

Potentially! It all depends on the student; how comfortable they are out of their immediate environment and whether we have built a solid foundation first.
Testimonials
“Leon is an incredibly warm, patient person, and quickly built a close bond with my son, who has ADHD and had very low confidence in maths. Leon's sessions were personalised and full of fun, high-quality maths learning, with games, cards, counters and other props.”
— Sally, parent“Leon is one of the most incredible people I have ever met! When I first met Leon I was confused about my life and where I was going to go next. He helped me find the right path. I now have a job that means the world to me and that I love going to everyday and Leon was the one who helped me to find that.”
— Bradley, student“Leon is a fantastic tutor! He's very approachable and incredibly supportive. My daughter really enjoyed his English and Maths home education sessions and thought he was really fun to work with!”
